St. Paul's Parish is a vital and growing worship centre in a place which still holds onto its small town feeling despite being a part of the larger city of Timmins.
Worship here is accompanied by a large and energetic choir, consisting of a range of voices directed by the choir director (Hazel) and supported by our organist (Trish). They are always looking for new voices! Concerts with choirs from other churches in town are put on at least twice a year to raise funds for a locally owned and operated Seniors Transitional Housing facility. Palm Sunday sees St. Paul's holding this event in the evening, and at Christmas it is held on a rotating basis in other churches in the area. Come early as even the front seats get filled up fast.
Our Sunday School is enthusiastically and ably run by Lorraine and Lynn. It is growing in leaps and bounds and volunteers help out every Sunday. Our parish has adopted the policy that at no time will there be less then 2 adults with the children, for the protection of both the children and the adults working with them.
In trying to appeal to all worshippers this parish rotates worship forms between the BCP, the '62 Rite in the BAS and the BAS Eucharists every month. Morning Prayer is offered once a month.
While we have no ACW, the women gather every fall to make dozens of Pasties that are sold almost before they cool down. A Craft Group meets once a week and members work on their own items, as well items for sale at the Fall Tea. Youth events are also a part of this parish. A group of young people visited from the Parish of Cavan in 1999, and the Diocesan U.G.L.Y. Camp was hosted in 1998. Several Ecumenical Youth and Children Events have been happening and more are being planned for the future. There are several Intergenerational Services planned every year, especially on special festivals such as Christmas and Easter.
